NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y., Sept. 28, 2007 – The John R. Oishei Foundation has awarded a $300,000 startup grant to Complete Senior Care, a long-term care program that will allow nursing home-eligible Niagara County residents to remain living at home. The grant will help the two nonprofit parent agencies, the Health Association of Niagara County Inc. and the Dale Association, to prepare for Complete Senior Care’s 2008 launch. Complete Senior Care will provide comprehensive health services – including adult day services, home care, primary care, hospital care, prescriptions, therapy, specialty care, social work and spiritual care – to people age 55 and older who are nursing home-eligible but want to remain at home. Beginning in 2008, HANCI’s building at 1302 Main St. will be renovated into a clinic and day center, with a second site to open in Lockport in 2010. Eventually the program will serve up to 300 people and will create 100 new jobs. Information is available from HANCI at 285-8224 or the Dale Association at 438-2414. The John R. Oishei Foundation’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for Buffalo area residents by supporting education, healthcare, scientific research and the cultural, social, civic and other charitable needs of the community. The Foundation was established in 1940 by John R. Oishei, founder of Trico Products Corporation. # # # |
