Living Healthy classes show how to live with chronic conditions
NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y., May 25, 2011 – The Health Association of Niagara County, Inc., is offering a free series to help older adults manage chronic conditions and enjoy better health.
Living Healthy is a free, six-week course that helps participants to live well with any chronic condition. Participants will learn to manage pain, fatigue and depression. Other topics include fitness, nutrition, self-confidence, wise use of medications, and communication with doctors and other health professionals.
The program runs from 4:30 to 7 p.m. each Tuesday from June 7 through July 12 at HANCI, 1302 Main Street in Niagara Falls. Healthy snacks will be served at each session.
The program is based on the Chronic Disease Self-Management program developed by Stanford University. Stanford has certified members of HANCI’s staff as master trainers.
