Volunteers sought for MLK Day of Service
Cleaning, painting and organizing will help local nonprofits

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y., Jan. 3, 2012 – As part of a national movement to make Martin Luther King Day a “day on, not a day off,” the Health Association of Niagara County Inc. will host its fourth annual MLK Day of Service from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 16.

The Volunteer Center at HANCI is looking for volunteers of all ages to help with painting, cleaning and organizing at Community Missions, the Magdalene Project and HANCI, all located in Niagara Falls.

All volunteers must register by Jan. 13. To sign up and receive a volunteer assignment, call 285-8224, ext. 216, or email volunteercenter@hanci.com.

A free lunch will be provided to all volunteers. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

“The Martin Luther King Day of Service has become a major component of our community’s MLK celebrations,” said HANCI Chief Executive Officer John W. Kinner. “The event keeps growing, and this year we hope to draw at least 75 volunteers to help strengthen some of Niagara Falls’ most helpful human service agencies.”
