Can you picture teenagers going to the Senior Prom with someone four times their age? That's what this event is all about!

At the "Niagara County Senior Prom," high school students escort older adults from throughout Niagara County for a unique and enjoyable night. They have dinner together, they dance, they tell stories and they get to know each other. It is not uncommon for the "couples" to stay in touch with each other long after the event ends.

At the Senior Prom, the generation gap disappears, and two very different groups of people begin to appreciate each other more fully.

Any Niagara County senior citizen is eligible to sign up on a first-come, first-served basis. Many are participants in HANCI programs. Some are residents of assisted living or skilled nursing facilities, but all are ambulatory.

The Senior Prom was established and sponsored in Lockport for several years by another agency, with help from HANCI and other organizations. After a one-year hiatus, HANCI decided in 2003 to resurrect this popular intergenerational event.
